Lifeseeker: A Game Changer in Search and Rescue

The cellphone. Arguably the world’s most life-altering invention. Not only in society, but when lives are at stake. That is why Lifeseeker from CENTUM locates missing people through their cellphones.

When searching for missing people during Search and Rescue operations, the usual tactic is to look down from the windows of the helicopter with the hopes of detecting life. But now you can use the signal from cellphones to save lives during missions.

“In SAR operations, time is of the essence. Lifeseeker helps rescue teams to quickly geolocate missing people by turning their phones into emergency beacons. This way, operations can be more agile, reducing risks, and optimizing resources. Lifeseeker has been designed to save lives, and it is doing it,” says Héctor Estévez, CEO of CENTUM research and technology.

Beacon of Life

Lifeseeker is the name of an airborne phone location system developed by CENTUM. Its sensors can detect and locate any mobile phone – with or without cellular network. Lifeseeker is a game changer for Search and Rescue operations and has already performed more than 100 successful missions by more than 25 end users.

Now, CENTUM has introduced a new Lifeseeker generation with three different series:

SAR series for helicopters on mid-range missions
SAR XL series for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft on long-range missions
Miniseries for drones on short-range missions

These products completely transform the way operators usually structure SAR operations. Until now. Essentially, Lifeseeker can be tailormade to fit the needs of the specific mission and platform requirements be it a drone, a helicopter, or fixed-wing aircraft.

A System for Everyone

One question remains: How can Lifeseeker become the preferred life-safer when searching for people?

CENTUM has established a partnership with The SA Group who will support everything from sales and installations to post-sales services of the Lifeseeker products.

“We are humbled to have partnered up with Centum, since the SA Group believes in the importance of new technology to solve the issues of tomorrow,” says Hardy Truelsen, Business Development and Head of the SA Group.

About Lifeseeker

Lifeseeker by CENTUM is an airborne phone location system for search and rescue (SAR). The Lifeseeker system allows rescue teams during SAR operations to communicate with the missing person. This way, the rescue team will be able to quickly access important information such as the state of the victim or if there are immediate medical needs. Lifeseeker is capable of accurately locating missing persons through their mobile phones – even in areas with no network coverage and under adverse weather conditions. It can be used on both manned (planes and helicopters) and unmanned aerial platforms (UAVs/drones).
